How do you feel about the Inauguration? What did you like about it? Hate?

  1. I thought Aretha Franklin's hat was pretty cool and funny looking at the same time. She is one of the few people in this world who could pull that look off.

  2. I think people are getting way to excited about Obama and its only his first day on the job. I hope he can do it, but it seems that no else feels that he will fail. I'm not saying he's going to fail, but if he does it will be the worst time in US history. His stimulus package and ideas are so radical and if they dont work our money will be useless as it will have no value. I feel unemployement rates are going to go up massively in the next year as more big business are likely to close their doors. Who would of though Circuit City going out of business 2-3 years ago. Im going to say atleast 25 major business wilol go down this next year. On the good note I think small busniess will be up. Health cuts from obamas plan and making more money freely available to borrow will bring in investors, but I dont think thats what we need right now. We need these big companies who provide jobs to thousands of people to stay in business. I really do hope for the best of the country and Mr. Obama but its not going to be easy as everyone has it set in their mind.

  3. Obama totally fumbled getting sworn in... I laughed. I wish him the best, although we are setting him up for such catastrophic failure with all of these changes. I don't think he will be able to do most of the things he said during his campaign.
    Good luck

  6. It wasn't Obama's fault, he was repeating after Chief Justice John Roberts who said the phrase wrong.

  8. No the Chief Justice did say it wrong, he but faithfully in the wrong place and Obama caught it the Roberts said it again and left something else out and Obama followed him again.

  9. Chief Justice Roberts switched the words around; this caused Obama to to stop and think about whether what he memorized was correct or what Justice Roberts said was correct. You have to say the phrase EXACTLY to be considered President. That's why he was resworn in. I hate that everyone thinks Obama screwed up. Also, if you watch past swearing in's, the Justices usually pause more often then Roberts was to let the President repeat the phrase. That's why Obama kept "interrupting" Roberts-- because Roberts was supposed to pause at those moments to let Obama repeat the phrase rather than say a really lengthy one. Watch previous swearing in's and you'll see.

    Anyway, what I liked most:
The hope, energy, and motivation people have. Deep inside, we know Obama's not close to perfect, but we like to dream. He gives us that courage. I also liked some of the words in his speech. He said something like, "...nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task." It's a great quote to think about when times are tough, and you need the strength to pull yourself out.

    What I liked least:
That people place so much pressure on him. Everyone thinks he's God, that he's going to save us. We can't lay it all on him. We have to be more responsible, have a greater work ethic, stop watching so much television, do more volunteer work, have parents spend time with their kids, etc. We put ourselves in this crappy economy. Stop using credit cards; stop buying extravagant things you can't afford; stop placing value in things rather than people.

    How I felt:
I regained confidence in myself. I have this new motto I think about when I'm nervous about anything: "If Obama could become President, then I can do X." It gives me a sense of perspective, to know that my problem isn't as big as what he has to combat. Actually, I missed the live swearing in because of class, so I had to watch clips of it (thank goodness for youtube).
